Psalm 68:5-6

A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.

God sets the lonely in families, he leads forth the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.

I am Stepanie Nance. My family adopted two little boys with Down Syndrome from Ukraine in 2010. I hope to educate and to inspire you. I hope to make you laugh and to make you cry.

Come along for the ride. It's a wild one!

More miracles...

It's crazy how fast this little dude is changing! Look what I found today:
I know, it's picture of Theo. He's sitting up. Oh wait! He's sitting up! He was just crawling around on the carpet a minute ago.

Transitioning from a prone position to a sitting position is something most babies learn by around the age of 9 months. Typical babies just do it, no big deal. For Theo it's HUGE!

Love, love love!

I just love celebrating every new skill. This kid lived in a cage (tiny crib) for four years. Watching him come alive is so rewarding. *sniff* I mean what are the chances that a tiny little guy like Theo from an Eastern European orphanage would end up in my home in the middle of the U.S.A.? It's so improbable. But, it's really heartwarming. Did I mention how much I love this little one?

  1. Stephanie, you are not the only one who loves that little dude!! Have you looked at the photos from just a few months ago? Have you compared Theo's pics? WHAT a HUGE difference!! He is so alive!! It's amazing the difference LOVE can make!

  2. Wow! He looks soooo amazing! So healthy, happy and vibrant! I am new to your blog (I support RR and read several of the RR blogs) - and can't believe how fast your son is growing up and how fast he is progressing.

He looks absolutely healthy and so very very happy. :) Keep up that amazing work you are doing!

I know that as the weeks progress we'll all see more wonderful victories for your son!

God bless, Kerin (mom of 1 son, who also has 47 chromosomes)

  3. He's amazing for sure! What size is Theo wearing? What's he weigh now?

  4. Awesome, awesome, awesome!!! I'll be sure to tell Natalia all about it too. I won't tell her he was on the bare floor though. :-) God is good!!!

  5. Oh My is he the cutest little man!!! Wow - I am so glad he is sitting and doing so well!!! I'm with Jill - God is good!!!!!

  6. I agree with Mel!! Oh he is so precious!! It is so amazing to see his progress!! He reminds me of our little Victoria. She is only turning 2 and spent about half as much time as he did in the orphanage, but I feel sure she would have been a "Theo" if she was there for 2 more years. Still so thrilled for you and for him!!! Too cute!!!
